Have adventures! Embrace an adventurous spirit even if only once a week! Why not? 

Embrace spontaneity in your life. This is a secret way of bringing joy back! Routines can set in and we don’t remember anymore what it feels like to have fun and enjoy a bit of adventure in our lives. I love to have our DBI Young Ones look at the definition of things. So, let us do the same.

Adventure is defined as a risky undertaking of unknown outcome, an exciting or unexpected event or course of events. 

Let’s focus on exciting! Take yourself by surprise and bring excitement to your life. Now and then consider being unlike you and escape the treadmill of predictability! You always go to work by taking the same route, yes? Take a different one every once in a while. Choose the scenic one and enjoy your surroundings. When you go to the grocery store next time, get a fruit or a vegetable (or both) that you have never tried before. Go feed the birds outside your home or at break time when at work. Wear colored socks! Hah! Why not? 

Another way to add adventure to your life is to find ways to do something that is brilliant and that pays it forward. Can you find a way to pay it forward on a daily basis? Be it with a smile to everyone around you or a helping hand to a fellow worker, client, friend or family member. There are infinite ways to live a life of adventure where we feel bliss surrounding and embracing us. Our hearts can race in so many ways……..so open up to find different ways to get *your* heart going! :) 

Find new directions to explore in your life! Have you always wished to learn to play the guitar or a new language or martial arts? Go do it! Find 1 hour every week and go give it a try! Keep dreaming WONDERful dreams and savor life for we only pass this way……..once!

Now, go HAVE FUN and bring adventure into your life. Your Young Ones are watching and will mirror it as they grow older! Wish to witness them live a life filled with healthy, empowering, and positive adventure and joy? Then show them how it’s done: DO IT YOURSELF NOW!

Who Are You Surrounded By? Remember, it is *your* Choice!

What kinds of people do you attract? What kinds of people do you currently have around you? Who is a part of your life? Who are your best friends?

I encourage you today to take a brief moment of reflection. Grab your DBI Notepad and write dow the following:

- Who are your closest friends?
- For each one of them answer the following questions:
1. What do I most appreciate in this person?
2. Spending time with this person lifts my spirit or drags me down?
3. Is it their desire that I become a better, happier, more successful person?
4. Will I be able to help this person achieve their goals while they help me achieve mine?
5. Do I feel that there is an harmony in the give/take in our relationship?
6. Is there respect & kindness in this relationship with this person?

If you answered NO to more than 2 questions then you should reconsider the place this person occupies in your life. If you spend a large amount of time with this person, re-think this and consider pulling away. From this moment forward, consider very carefully only getting closer and spend the bulk of your time with people who BELIEVE in you! Surround yourself with friends who support your dreams and life purpose in some way.

And while you are at it, make a commitment that NMW (No Matter What) you will now become the friend you are looking for in others: Be supportive! Be respectful! Be Kind! Support your friends goodness and dreams! Be of help to them in becoming the best individuals they can be NOW!

Now list five people who can help you achieve your dreams and aspirations.  Then go find them and become committed to support them in the achievement of their dreams and aspirations!!! Hold hands with them in accomplishing goals! :)

Moving forward, regardless of who you have been surrounded by up until now, choose to just surround yourself with people who uplift you! In that journey make sure you uplift everyone you cross paths with! Why Not Do That? Why Not???

Your Road...in Chunks of Beauty and Simplicity!

It is very simple……….what is it? When you have a huge goal to attain and a big dream to turn into reality and you get lost in the details and you get tired just thinking of ALL the steps necessary to accomplish this dream……and…….and…………………and……. STOP!!!

This is what you do:

1. Make a list of all the goals you wish to accomplish within the next five years.

2. Once your list is complete, compile all of those goals you wish to see accomplished by the end of the current year.

3. Divide the rest of the year in chunks of 100 days.

4. Now divide the goals for the remaining of the year and place them in the chunks of 100 days.

5. Next focus on the goals you have added to be accomplished in the next 100 days e re-write them in order of importance.

6. For each one of these goals now create a separate log where you will then create the small steps you must take in order to accomplish this goal within the next 100 days. IMPORTANT: These steps don’t have to be complex and difficult. Make them as small and as simple as possible so that you are taking them and moving forward every single day.

VOILA! There is a recipe for the constant and continued accomplishment of your goals! Ah, the magic touch of this recipe? An ingredient called NMW!!! Yummy! When you make a commitment to yourself that, NO MATTER WHAT, EVERY SINGLE DAY you will do something to accomplish your goals/dreams/intentions…then You *WILL* bring your intentions to life!!! That simple!

Ah, serve this in the BELIEF plate. Believe in yourself, NMW! NMW others say or think! NMW the circumstances you’re in currently! NMW!

Ok, so your parents are facing challenges in their relationship!

First, remember: You are *not* alone!!! There is a world of Kids of all ages who, just like You, have parents in troubled relationships.

Second: this is *their* relationship! Stay out of it (unless you must interfere because someone’s life is at risk)!

Third: Respect your parents, Love them unconditionally, and BE THERE for them by choosing to be the highest version of yourself! Show up as the Daughter or the Son You believe any parent would wish to have! There is so much power in getting out of our own shoes and place ourselves in the shoes of others! Imagine you have a Kid yourself. Be honest and think of how you would like your kid to show up! What kind of attitudes does he/she embrace? What kind of language does he/she uses? Which way can they choose to be that honors the entire family structure and uplifts it, makes it stronger, happier??!!! That is the Kid you need to become! Because when we become what/who we admire, then we finally truly honor our true destiny and allow it to powerfully manifest! :)

And most importantly: Keep centered! Hold on to your Inner Joy, no matter what! Do not let go your Inner Peace! It may sound easier said than done. However, it CAN be done! Give it a try! Give it an honest try! You will see things *will* change when you choose to look at them differently! With your BIG mind and Your BIG Heart guiding You, there is no turning back! And darkness is not but an illusion! :)

These choices CAN help things get better for all of you at home! ;) And remember, You CAN do this! DBI Love & Light! :)

Sade/2010 (Happy Birthday Luz Dos Meus Olhos!)

A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door. “Daddy, may I ask you a question?” “Yeah, sure, what is it?” replied the man. “Daddy, how much money do you make an hour? “That’s none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.

“I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy. “If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.” “Oh,” the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I borrow $10.00 please?”

The father was furious. “If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. I work long, hard hours everyday and don’t have time for such childish games.” The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boy’s questioning. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

Just 2:26 minutes… PRECIOUS! Now, are You Ready to SHIFT the way YOU/WE see ourselves (Our Youth)?

The Magic Of JOY!

How many times have you heard this question “What Are You Good At?”

Have You ever sat down to create a list of what you are good at? What is it that You do well?  Do You sing well? Do You write well? Are You good at designing? What about cooking? Or organizing? What is it that You are really good at? If you seat down to ponder about this question and get a good old pencil/pen and commit your answers to paper…You may be amazed and pretty impressed with your answers.

Now, as I was working on a few questions a Kid had for me (a 20 something year old kid), I had her go a step further and think of this question from a different perspective. I had her stop for a quiet moment and go within. The question? What Am I Good At SPIRITUALLY? Yes, we all have these God given talents (You know I am a Believer, so for You who are not, please feel free to always replace God with what it is You do honor), yet we tend to not remember that we have God gifted SPIRITUAL talents as well.

What power can come from choosing to connect with our Spiritual talents? Think of this for a moment. How can this serve us and the ones around us? Before You answer this question specifically, I invite You to please get quiet for a moment and think of what You are good at Spiritually. Write down everything and anything that comes to heart. Be as honest as You possibly can! This is a moment between your soul and your sacred peace of paper.

Now that your spiritual talents are committed to paper, look at them and find ways these talents can be of service to the world around You. How can they serve and honor your very life? There is one true: what You bring to your mental awareness becomes a physical and emotional reality in your life. Now that You brought these talents to your mental awareness, they can become a gift to all the other realms of your life!

Because I refuse to ask my Kids (of all ages) to do something I have not done myself, with your permission I will share one of my Spiritual gifts. If You are ready to go work on your own Divine list, please do! Have fun with it and may it serve You in the quest of an authentic, joyful, and significant life! :)

Now briefly on to my gift! When I sat down and asked the question “Selma, what are You good at spiritually?” immediately what came to my heart was my ability to BE HAPPY and share that happiness that lives within me with others around me! I believe I am really good at connecting with the inner joy God gifted me at birth. I believe in my heart that the moment I was brought to life, God sent my way a ray of light filled with Joy and Peace which was planted in my heart and there it is, and will remain, for the rest of my life! Could this be true? I believe in it with all my being and that belief serves me. It empowers me! And that is what I choose to share with the world around me! :)

What are You good at spiritually? Because when You feed off of what serves and empower You… You add MAGIC to your life! I now leave You with JOY and my most sincere wishes of PEACE and POWER!

Embrace 2010!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
2010 is here! And with it, a New Decade! A renewed opportunity of new beginnings!
Embrace it!

The last thing we did as a family on Dec.31 was sitting on a circle and look back at the year about to end and the new year about to begin. We looked at lessons and gifts. The challenges brought what lessons and growth? The blessings brought what awareness and feelings?

A list of all of what we have to thank for and the many lessons learned was written! And the girls delivered themselves to this with visible abandon! Sade, my daughter, is 13 and Henriqueta, my God sister is 25! We then shared with each other and it was such a beautiful moment and feeling!

Have you done your family circle? Have you brought together the people you love and care about to share feelings, lessons, and dreams? What is it that is important to them? Do they know what really matters to You? When this awareness is brought up and shared by all in the family it is so much easier for us to support each other.

The new year just started. You are on time to get your own circle done and enclosed. You will enclosed it by caring! Grab your calendar and get a date in the next few days to have all your Young Ones of all ages together and get this done! If the level of comfort is not yet such that they are comfortable sharing their lessons or challenges, respect it. Share as much as You can with them (in a positive and empowering way) and patiently wait for them to open up. The little ones will share everything with you! So be sure you have them participate in this family circle! :)
