Buying Time… a Story in Life!

May 13, 2010

Sade/2010 (Happy Birthday Luz Dos Meus Olhos!)

A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door. “Daddy, may I ask you a question?” “Yeah, sure, what is it?” replied the man. “Daddy, how much money do you make an hour? “That’s none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.

“I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy. “If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.” “Oh,” the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I borrow $10.00 please?”

The father was furious. “If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. I work long, hard hours everyday and don’t have time for such childish games.” The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boy’s questioning. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10.00, and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door. “Are you asleep son?” he asked. “No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy.

“I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier,” said the man. “It’s been a long day and I took my aggravation out on you. Here’s that $10.00 you asked for.” The little boy sat straight up, beaming. “Oh, thank you daddy!” he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more crumpled up bills. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man.

“Why did you want more money if you already had some?” the father grumbled. “Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied.

“Daddy, I have $20.00 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?”

2010 Is Here! Embrace it!

January 1, 2010

Embrace 2010!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
2010 is here! And with it, a New Decade! A renewed opportunity of new beginnings!
Embrace it!

The last thing we did as a family on Dec.31 was sitting on a circle and look back at the year about to end and the new year about to begin. We looked at lessons and gifts. The challenges brought what lessons and growth? The blessings brought what awareness and feelings?

A list of all of what we have to thank for and the many lessons learned was written! And the girls delivered themselves to this with visible abandon! Sade, my daughter, is 13 and Henriqueta, my God sister is 25! We then shared with each other and it was such a beautiful moment and feeling!

Have you done your family circle? Have you brought together the people you love and care about to share feelings, lessons, and dreams? What is it that is important to them? Do they know what really matters to You? When this awareness is brought up and shared by all in the family it is so much easier for us to support each other.

The new year just started. You are on time to get your own circle done and enclosed. You will enclosed it by caring! Grab your calendar and get a date in the next few days to have all your Young Ones of all ages together and get this done! If the level of comfort is not yet such that they are comfortable sharing their lessons or challenges, respect it. Share as much as You can with them (in a positive and empowering way) and patiently wait for them to open up. The little ones will share everything with you! So be sure you have them participate in this family circle! :)

Wishes of much success in strengthening *your* family circle! :) Wishes of a much successful, joyful, peaceful, and significant 2010 to You and Yours!

Our Sacred Temple!

October 21, 2009

One way or another, we all have heard, read, learned about the importance of Physical exercise and all its many benefits. What may be missing to some of us out there is the willingness to BEGIN exploring the world of Physical Activity beyond our regular “comings and goings” of every day life.

Today, as the Child/Youth Honoring Leader I am, and because I honor You as a whole and care for YOUR well being, I invite you to please consider very seriously taking the first step on a journey of physical activity. If you are One who does not regularly exercise, I encourage You to begin TODAY with a 30 minute walk daily. Just a walk. Grab your family, grab your friends! Worse case scenario, when they are not available to join you, get your mp3 player/ipod and get out there!

Did you know that walking daily for only 30 minutes can increase your life by 5 years? FIVE YEARS! Wow! Pretty powerful, is it not? Could you enjoy an extra FIVE years in the company of those you LOVE and Care for? Would you be happy with an extra FIVE years of bringing your DREAM professional path to life? How would that impact your life? Well, *that* seemingly impossible journey begins with ONE STEP! Take yours, TODAY! An average of 17 Days and VOILA:  a habit is formed! Can you agree to 17 days? Than You are agreeing, moving forward, to a lifetime of physical activity!!! YEAH!!!

Here are a few resources as you move in the direction of your PHYSICAL POWERHOUSE, Enjoy!

Your GIFT in 2009! Treasure It, for It is YOURS!

January 1, 2009

Happy New Year!

With a new year, a brand NEW YEAR comes a GIFT for YOU! A VERY PRECIOUS GIFT just for you! From the Heavens above you have received another very precious gift. Imagine it wrapped in a beautiful box, colored blue, with a BIG bow colored with your favorite color!

What is it? Open it! See? It’s BEAUTIFUL and oh! so PRECIOUS: 525,600 minutes! In 2009 you have been reserved 31,536,000 seconds! Did you read that? 31,536,000 seconds!!!

What are you going to do with them? That is where your focus should be as you begin the journey! How will you treasure this precious gift of time?
Go within. How can you HONOR this precious gift? Ask the questions? You will see that by asking the questions, you will find the answers!

I have gone within. I always go within. For the past 7 years of my life I have began the habit of taking the New Year as an opportunity of getting a major look at my own “picture”. I look at it all from above. I mentally remove myself from it and look at it from high above. How does it look like? I am going in the direction of my Vision? How did I use MY GIFT of time? MY TIME! How do I intend to honor it moving into the New Year?

I keep reminding myself that it is not only “just another year” starting. It is 365 days, 52 weeks, and what I am doing each moment counts! :) With goals, with set intentions, it becomes so much easier to understand in which direction we are moving. I have lived without them, and I have lived with them. And having done both, I can firmly and knowledgeably say: I am so much happier when I have a sense of direction. I KNOW in my heart what I am working for.

I know what takes me out of bed in the morning. Do you? How clear is your WHY? In my experience, only by having set intentions for each moment of my life do I feel I am moving forward with my life’s vision, mission, and purpose….my life’s calling!

I always stop and go within. For this season and in line with wishing to have intentions set for the New Year, I would love to share a prayer with you. Inspired by the thoughts and Divine intentions behind the words in this prayer, I set my intentions for 2009. I encourage you to focus on the wisdom and divinity behind each word.
Enjoy!

“Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort
than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.”
~ (Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi)

For each of the 52 weeks in 2009, I invite you to take one thought at a time and share it with the younger ones, ALL the Children, Teens, and Young Adults in your life. Bring them close to you, call them, and share with them these powerful and inspiring intentions. Then, each single week find ways to honor each one of these divine and sacred wishes with specific actions that allow them to be brought to life.

What do YOU choose to give attention to this New Year? What do YOU choose to share with your own Child and the Children in YOUR life this New Year?
I choose to model the behavior I am looking for in them. I therefore choose to live a life that honors each intention above.

Where there is a Child, where there is a young soul, may adults around them choose to bring them to the Light! May adults choose to BE the change they wish to witness in the future generations to come! For it is by example that we best lead!
May each adult choose to breath Spirit (inspire) into the lives of all the Children and Younger Ones around them!

Please hug all the Young Ones in your life for me. For I honor and treasure each one of them!
Happy New Year! Wishes of a joy, peace within, and abundance to you and yours!
